What We Do
Generations of friends and family gather every August for the annual picnic at St. Joseph Children's Home to play games, visit, eat, drink, and volunteer. On average, over 50,000 people attend on Picnic Day!
All proceeds from the Picnic supports St. Joe's kids! The Picnic is famous for:
- Home-cooked Fried Chicken Dinners
- The Cake Booth
- Handmade quilts from the St. Joseph Sewing Society
- $15,000 Capital Prize and Car Raffles
Picnic could not happen without the dedication of over 3,000 volunteers! Some individuals, families, and groups have been volunteering at the Picnic for over 50 years! Start your own legacy of volunteerism, help support our mission of "giving children a home," and have a good time doing it! Visit our online sign-up page to choose a position and shift that fits your schedule. Contact Kate Biagi-Rickert at 502-893-0241 ext. 279 or for questions or additional information about Picnic volunteer opportunities!
You Can Always Help in Other Ways
No time to volunteer, but still want to help? There are SO MANY ways to help with Picnic and all year round. You can donate a cake for our cake booth - make it yourself, or have one made at any of our fine local bakeries (we'll even pick it up!). Check out this year's cake flyer for details.
Own a business? We have sponsorships available! Have questions? Contact Rachel Firkins at 502-893-0241 ext. 318 or
