fulfill our mission of Giving Children a Home. Some gifts from I.R.A.s
qualify for a tax deduction in the full amount of the gift. Please
call Barry Walker (893-0241) if you are interested giving
a gift that will help us care for our children in the coming year.

Special
Thanks to the WHAS Crusade for Children, The Honorable Order
of Kentucky Colonels, the Porcini Children's Charity Foundation,
CitiFinancial, the Marshall Charitable Foundation and the
GE Foundation
Every year we are blessed with support from many fine organizations and individuals and our work could not be done with out that support. This year we would like to express special thanks to the WHAS Crusade for Children, The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and the Porcini Children's Charity. Their continual support of our mission has contributed over $1 million in the past decade and for that we are most grateful. May the spirit of Christmas visit everyone who supports those fine organizations and the work they allow us to do at St. Joseph Children's Home.

Congratulations on your new family, Larry & Fannie!
As adults we read to our children and grandchildren
the fairy tales of old, always ending with the line, “and they lived
happily ever after.” Innocent children such as Snow White, Belle, Hansel
and Gretel and Cinderella met with crisis in their young lives.
We feared the worst for them, but when goodness triumphed over evil then
the young people got their “happily ever after” life.

Larry is on his way to living the happily ever after life that he
deserves because he has been adopted by Fannie Mc Daniel. His story is especially
heartwarming given the fact that he is 15 years old.
The likelihood of a child being placed in a permanent home
decreases with each passing birthday, but fortunately for Larry, Fannie McDaniel
came into his life. Fannie McDaniel, a veteran foster parent, adopted Larry
this year. Fannie has been involved with the St. Joseph Foster Care program
for over three years. During this time, she has opened her home to at least
six children needing a foster home. |
| The
letter from Larry’s state social
worker tells his story. He wrote, "At one time a psychiatrist
stated that this child would wind up living the rest of his days
in an institution. Fortunately, your program prevented this from
happening. Given the compassion of the staff that worked diligently
with this child and the foster parent that adopted him, he can
now have what children in the social service system deserve,
a forever home."
This letter shows the importance of not giving up on
the children who come to us. We are grateful to our staff,
for their professionalism and compassion. Please join us in congratulating
Larry, Fannie and the whole team in creating the opportunity
for a happily ever after life for Larry. |
