PARKING INFORMATION: Since a large portion of the back campus is taken up with the new construction, there will be some adjustment to parking for Picnic this year. Some parking will still be available from the Brownsboro Road entrance as usual. There will also be an off-site parking area with shuttle service to and from the Picnic. Shuttles will be running throughout the day and the off-site parking is within walking distance for those who might prefer to walk. PLEASE NOTE: Off-site parking is for Picnic Day (Saturday) only. NEW THIS YEAR: A special indoor, air-conditioned gathering space for St. Joe's alumni. Many folks who spent part of their childhood at St. Joe's return during the Picnic to greet and reminisce with old friends. This year, the Media Room will be open as a dedicated space for alumni. Follow signage at the east end of the building for directions.
The musical line-up for Friday Night Live has been announced. Up and coming country music star JD Shelburne will headline the music for the evening. The Shane Dawson Band and Blackbird County will open the show. The evening is sponsored by Summit Media.
Welcome to Our New Executive Director
St. Joseph Children’s Home welcomes Grace C. Akers as our new Executive Director, beginning August 1. Ms. Akers was previously with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, administering foster care, adoptions, and family support programs. Her leadership and long-time service to children in crisis throughout Kentucky will be such an asset to St. Joe’s residential treatment, foster care and adoption programs.
Ms. Akers brings a breadth and depth of experience not only as an administrator, but also as a strong advocate for abused and neglected children. She was the regional director in the Southern Bluegrass Region for the Department for Community based services since 2007 where she oversaw a 10 county region. Additionally, Akers holds distinguished honors and awards throughout the state, including her work with CASA.
